What you will learn

Three case studies have been prepared for you to consider and work through some of the key steps in the process. Each case study will appear under its own tab. View the video for the case study, then complete the exercises. The exercises give you the opportunity to reflect on what you would do with each of these patients as you progress through the Resuscitation Plan – 7 Step Pathway.

Successful completion of Resuscitation Planning – 7 Step Pathway.

Learning outcomes

At the end of this course you will be able to:

  • describe the rights of the patient, the Substitute Decision-Maker, Person/s Responsible, family members and carers in end-of-life planning and the Resuscitation Plan – 7 Step Pathway
  • apply the five triggers to a patient approaching end-of-life
  • apply each step in the Resuscitation Plan – 7 Step Pathway to patients who meet the trigger criteria, towards the implementation of the patient’s resuscitation plan
  • describe and apply the principals of correctly completing the MR-RESUS form towards creating a resuscitation plan for a patient.
