This course focuses on Basic Life Support (BLS) for the adult patient.
It follows the Australian, New Zealand Committee on Resuscitation (ANZCOR) Basic Life Support flowchart which provides a structured, step-by-step approach to Basic Life Support.
This course has been developed for health sector employees who may be bystanders, first aid providers, first and second responders.
This course is not for WCHN staff. If you are a WCHN staff member you should do the updated "WCHN Basic Life Support – WCH Campus" or "WCHN Basic Life Support – Community" courses.
On completion of this course you will be able to:

On successful completion of the assessments you can download a certificate of completion.
This course adheres to South Australian (SA Health) guidelines and Australian National Standards.
The principles described in the course can however be applied to any health care setting.
If you practice outside South Australia it is your responsibility to refer to the specific requirements of your local health authority.
This course aligns with the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards, Second Edition – Standard 8.
